Black Panther Assassinated Fred Hampton 1948-1969 On December 4th Fred Hampton, Deputy Chairman of the Illinois Black Panther Party was shot to death by Chicago police while asleep in his apartment. Mark Clark, another Panther leader was killed and four other Panthers were wounded.
