Full Text:
Big Boy hamburgers Open Newly Opened Stateside Hamburgers "...I see this war as a race between, on the one hand, the development of a viable South Vietnam and, on the other hand, a gradual loss in public support, or even tolerance, for the war...We must work on both problems together: Slow the loss in public support; and speed the development of South Vietnam. Our horse must cross the finish first." Memorandum for Secretary of Defense from Alain Enthoven, Assistant Secretary of Defense The Pentagon Papers, Vol.4, page 463-4 Indochina Information Project photo by M. Jury

Acquisition Number: 2004-189

Notes:
On June 13, 1971, the New York Times published the first installment of the "Pentagon Papers." Mark Jury was stationed in Viet Nam 1969-1970 and published "The Vietnam Photo Book" in 1971. Bob Zaugh says there were originally 9 in the series for the Indochina Information Project, all very lightly screened back.

Production Notes: Same photo as ID 15745 without text. Washed out look was intentional, so that text could be read. Peace Press didn't like it as it made them look like bad printers.Part of a series.
