Elena Varela, a well known, left-wing Chilean documentary filmmaker and jounralist, was accused of terrorism and arrested by Chilean authories after creating a documentary about the conditions of the Mapuche people in Chile. She was arrested in 2009 and faced up to 15 years in prison.
